The P’nai Or community would like to invite you to join us in Havdalah and viewing the documentary “Eternos Indocumentados on Saturday January 4, 2020, at 6 pm  at P’nai Or’s new location: 6948 SW Capitol Hwy in the Fellowship Hall downstairs.
Our Tikkun Olam committee is hosting the gathering in memory of our founding rabbi, Rabbi Aryeh Hirschfield, zt”l, whose yahrzeit is the 10th of Tevet, January 7th this year. In his memory, we will collect tzedakah for Interfaith Movement for Immigrant Justice (IMIrJ) and International Migrants Alliance.
It is the desire of Rabbi Aryeh’s congregation P’nai Or to honor and remember him with ongoing mitzvot of Tikkun Olam. P’nai Or Tikkun Olam committee invites our communities to gather to watch the film and then engage in a reflection and “talk back” with knowledgable resources including Rabbi Michael Cahana who has recently been a witness at the southern border, Rabbi Eve Posen, recent American Jewish World Service Global Justice Fellow in Guatemala, and Bob Brown, representative to IMIrJ from Havurah Shalom.
All who need to say kaddish will have the opportunity and then we’ll have  a L’chayim and dessert.

About the movie Eternos Indocumentados  https://vimeo.com/ondemand/eternosindocumentados
(From the website): This documentary provides information about the realities at our southern border. Why are there caravans of asylum seekers at our southern border? As we all know, there are reasons why people leave their homes seeking safety and asylum. “Based on interviews with recently arrived Central Americans as well as interviews with organizers leading the struggle on the ground in Central America, this film captures the stories of Central American refugees and explores the root causes of forced migration. In the words of the late Salvadoran poet, Roque Dalton, as he says in his Poema de Amor, this film is about los Eternos Indocumentados (the Eternall Undocumented).”
We are grateful for this opportunity to share community, learn together, and support each other in the enduring work of Tikkun Olam. Thank you to congregations Beth Israel, Shaarie Torah, and Neveh Shalom who are co-sponsors with P’nai Or.
NB P’nai Or’s new home is shared with Hillsdale Community Church.
It is on SW Capitol Highway near the intersection with SW Vermont, near MJCC.
