Oregon Private Schools Appreciation Day has been proclaimed by the governor every year since 1991. It’s celebrated on the first Thursday in February and this year it falls on Feb. 4.
Colt Gill, Director of the Oregon Department of Education, shared in a letter to Oregon private schools, his acknowledgment that private schools “represent and serve the diverse communities that make up our state” and that he is “deeply grateful for our partnership and excited about the progress we’re making for Oregon’s students.”
Gill recognized, “The COVID-19 global pandemic has brought about a new level of coordination and communication between the Oregon Department of Education and the private schools of our state. My hope is that some of our learnings from this year and the deep cooperation can continue in new and creative ways in the future.”
