The first meeting of the Oregon Jewish Museum and Center for Holocaust Education took place on June 22, 2015, at the Multnomah Athletic Club. Well over 100 people enjoyed lunch while listening to upbeat reports about the success of the merger and plans for the coming year.

Board members Kathleen Derrick and Miriam Greenstein were particularly eloquent in voicing their appreciation for the merged organization and the way that the new mission has enriched their board service.

Historian Ellen Eisenberg, author of the forthcoming book about Oregon Jews, 1950 to the present, offered a stimulating keynote address. Her talk, “Whatever Happened to Old South Portland?  The Creation of Historical Memory” offered new ways of thinking about the immigrant community who settled there in the early 1900s.

The Oregon Jewish Museum and Center for Holocaust Education is located at 1953 NW Kearney St., Portland, OR 97209. For more information call 503-226-3600 or visit www.ojmche.org.
