The Oregon Youth Chorale and The Oregon Chamber Singers, under the direction of Sandy Miller, will be presenting “Annelies” – a major choral work based on the writings of Anne Frank. This piece, scored for chorus, piano, violin, cello, and clarinet, will feature 15-year-old Rachel Bard as the soprano soloist.
Sandy met the composer James Whitbourn in England last summer and was given exclusive permission to present this unique work for the first time ever on the West Coast. “Annalies” is the first adaptation of the diary of Anne Frank into a large-scale choral work. It shares the journey of fourteen days in her young life, from her thoughts while looking out the windows to hearing the bells chiming and the brutality and fear of her situation.
