Judaism’s Gifts to the World @ Portland Westside
Feb 12 @ 11:00 am – 12:30 pm

By most indications, modern society is a model of moral progress. Yet when it comes to everyday values, we still grapple with the big ones…

   – What are our responsibilities toward the less fortunate?
– How do we fashion a more moral and equal society?
– How can we make a move toward more cohesive family living?

Join us to unpack six of the world’s most cherished values and how they were delivered to humankind by the Torah. By tracing their fascinating journey to the mainstream, we’ll discover a timeless core of purpose, integrity, and clarity in each value—a powerful gift of guidance as we navigate our own daily choices.

Wondering Jews: How to Talk so Your Health Provider Will Listen (Really!) @ Congregation Neveh Shalom
Feb 13 @ 2:00 pm – 4:00 pm

Wondering Jews: How to Talk so Your Health Provider Will Listen (Really!)

Thursday, February 13, 2:00pm

Is this your typical appointment? You are sitting in that little examining room waiting for your doctor. The door flies open, your distracted doctor is late (again). He or she fires off quick questions that you can or cannot answer. Then comes a diagnosis, maybe some follow-up lab work and possibly a prescription or a referral. Maybe you are asked even MORE questions, and your care provider leaves.

Are you feeling like “something was missing” from your appointment?

Many of us walk away from the doctor’s office frustrated because our questions were not completely answered and other questions that you meant to ask are remembered post-appointment.

This workshop will:

  • Offer failsafe ways to make the most of your physician appointment(s);
  • Help you understand the circumstances under which most physicians and health care professionals work;
  • Give tips so you can be prepared for most of the question’s physicians will ask you;
  • Provide ways to maximize your health care appointments so that you and your provider enjoy more meaningful and productive sessions.
