CNS Annual Fundraiser 2021: An Evening of Broadway with Shoshana Bean and Friends

We are so excited to announce the Neveh Shalom Spring 2021 Auction and Fundraiser. You are invited to join recording artist and Broadway star Shoshana Bean and her cast of friends for a musical evening of Broadway tunes.

Funds raised from this event will support the education programs at Congregation Neveh Shalom, like Foundation School, ALIYAH/Tichon, and Adult Education, which serve the children, families, and adults of our kehillah.

About Shoshana Bean

Shoshana Bean is a chart-topping recording artist and award-winning Broadway actress. Most importantly, she grew up at Congregation Neveh Shalom.

Her three independent solo albums have all topped the iTunes R&B and Blues charts in the US and UK, with her fourth and most recent project, SPECTRUM, debuting at #1 on the Billboard Jazz charts. She has sold out solo concerts around the globe, lent her voice to countless films and television shows, amasses millions of views on YouTube, and performed alongside Ariana Grande, David Foster, Postmodern Jukebox, Brian McKnight, and Michael Jackson.

Shoshana is a veteran of the Broadway stage having made her debut in the original cast of Hairspray, starring as the very first replacement for Elphaba in Wicked and most recently as Jenna in Waitress. She won an IRNE Award for her performance as Fanny Brice in Funny Girl and earned a Jeff Award nomination for her portrayal of CeeCee Bloom in the pre-Broadway musical production of Beaches.

Spring 2021 Session begins January 21. This 18-week course is taught by members of The Oregon Board of Rabbis, representing a variety of Jewish affiliation. A carefully constructed curriculum includes Jewish history, life cycle events, holidays, ritual and daily practice, theology, study of Torah and contemporary Jewish America. While not a conversion class, most OBR members consider it a prerequisite for students beginning study for conversion. Classes 7-9 pm, Thursdays, normally at rotating Portland area synagogues, but due to COVID-19, this term will be held online via Zoom. Register online,

Torah Troop for 3rd-5th Graders

1st and 3rd Shabbat every month at 10:00am

Meet in the MAIN service (Stampfer Chapel or Main Sanctuary) for the beginning of the Torah service, and then come out with your friends for a fun and active lesson on the Torah portion (parsha) of the week. Return to the service to help lead Adon Olam, and join the community for lunch!

Join ORA: Northwest Jewish Artists for its tenth Jewish Arts Month (JAM) art show—this year it is virtual!  At your leisure, view seventeen artists’  fiber work, beadwork, metal art pieces, glass, ceramics, painting, and more.
