To know a land is to know its people. Experience the political and religious diversity of Israel through authentic and intimate conversations with young Israelis from across the length and breadth of the country. Meet an Israeli settler, a left-wing Peace Now! Activist, an ultra-orthodox yeshiva bucher, and a Muslim Palestinian in open and unscripted discussion, back-to-back.
Israel360 has brought together a diversity of voices and perspectives who together represent some of the largest cultural and political forces animating contemporary Israeli society. In partnership with Meet the Israelis and the magic of Zoom break-out rooms, we can engage in the honest and thought-provoking conversations even a tourist in Israel rarely benefits from. Ninety-two percent of past participants felt that “they had a better understanding of the complexities of Israeli society afterwards”. So, join us for an incredible event!
C0-sponsors include: Israel360 in collaboration with Meet the Israelis, the Harold Schnitzer Family Program in Judaic Studies, Portland State University’s CHAI, and PDXHillel
Join Sylvia Frankel in the lobby for a discussion in Hebrew. Purchase lunch or just enjoy the conversation. Some conversational Hebrew required.
Tuesdays, 12:15 pm
Come study and discuss the Bible with Rabbi Isaak at Neveh Shalom.
Spring 2021 Session begins January 21. This 18-week course is taught by members of The Oregon Board of Rabbis, representing a variety of Jewish affiliation. A carefully constructed curriculum includes Jewish history, life cycle events, holidays, ritual and daily practice, theology, study of Torah and contemporary Jewish America. While not a conversion class, most OBR members consider it a prerequisite for students beginning study for conversion. Classes 7-9 pm, Thursdays, normally at rotating Portland area synagogues, but due to COVID-19, this term will be held online via Zoom. Register online,

Torah Troop for 3rd-5th Graders
1st and 3rd Shabbat every month at 10:00am
Torah Troop allows families at Congregation Neveh Shalom to move into the main sanctuary while still enjoying youth-oriented activity. At 10:00am, families meet in the main service. After the beginning Torah service, youth join their friends for a lesson on the Torah portion (parsha) of the week with adult leaders, and come back to help lead the Adon Olam at the end of the service.
As always, we end with our community for lunch!
