Judaism; Essential Spiritual Practices, Rituals and Ethics Class

Rabbi David Zaslow, Cyrise Beatty Schachter, Rabbi Sue Morningstar and guest teachers present an eleven-week series of classes at the Havurah Synagogue – Judaism; Essential Spiritual Practices, Rituals and Ethics. Classes will be held beginning on Thursday, February 1 from 5-6 PM for eleven weeks. Online streaming is available for those who are unable to attend at this time – a code will be given upon registration. Pre-registration is required by calling 541-488-7716. The term Shabbaton is often employed to mean an event and/or celebration that is held on Shabbat or over a full weekend. A Shabbaton is an immersive family Shabbat experience – providing engaging programs and activities for all ages.

Celebrate the Trees at the Havurah Synagogue @ Havurah Synagogue

On Friday, February 2, 6 PM Rabbi David Zaslow and Morah Cyrise Beatty Schachter will lead a musical Kabbalat Shabbat & Celebration of the Trees!! Tu b’Shevat, the most ancient ecological holiday, is celebrated with a ritual passed down by the 16th century mystics of Safed. Fruits and nuts will be tasted on the journey through the four worlds to celebrate the emergence from winter into the time of the awakening of the trees. Devorah Zaslow will tell a story of the season. Free. All are welcome. Donations gratefully accepted. Bring a potluck veggie dish to share and children are most welcome. Tot Shabbat & Tu B’Shevat @ Havurah Shalom

Young children and their parents celebrate Shabbat with singing, movement, blessings, and storytelling. We touch on the main highlights of the Shabbat morning service: wonder, fun, song, listening to the world, dancing, and Torah. Afterwards, we enjoy an informal potluck nosh and the chance to play and schmooze. Led by Deborah Eisenbach-Budner.
