Come celebrate our success! Thanks to the tremendous support of our community, the MJCC has completed the Roots & Rafters Campaign sooner than expected, and we’ve exceeded our goal of $3.5 million. These funds have allowed for critical improvements to the Schnitzer Family Campus, including a new roof, warm water pool improvements, energy system upgrades, playground enhancements, parking lot repairs and more! Join us for a community party with food, music, games and activities for the whole family!
As part of an exhibition running from 7/10 through 8/21, Joanie Levine and Yehudah Winter will present two distinctly different workshops on Compassionate Listening. Compassionate Listening is a powerful set of skills with the goal of healing the world by transforming conflict into understanding, from the most intimate level to interactions more broadly in our lives and world. From 1:30-3:00 p.m., participants are invited to a Conversation Cafe and slide show on the group’s work in Israel-Palestine. From 3:30-5:30 p.m., you can learn more deeply about and practice the Art of Compassionate Listening.
This is part of an exhibition running from 7/10 through 8/21. Every Sunday afternoon and evening, there will be a number of additional programs and concerts happening. The CBI Social Action Committee and Brotherhood are pleased to co-sponsor with Moms Demand Action Oregon a showing of Under the Gun, a movie that examines the events and people who have kept the gun debate fierce and the progress slow, even as gun deaths and mass shootings continue to increase. Through the lens of families impacted by the mass shootings in Newtown, Aurora, Isla Vista and Tucson, as well as those who experience daily gun violence in Chicago, the documentary looks at why politicians are finding it difficult to act and what is being done at the state and local levels. This event is free and open to the public.
