Women’s Tallit Making Program @ Congregation Neveh Shalom

Wrap yourself in “herstory!” Ever thought about making your own Tallit? Come learn more about them, and make one yourself! Sisterhood is hosting a Women’s Tallit program, where you can learn about the history of women’s use of a talllit, as well as the basics of making your own. If you have a Tallit you wear, or have made, please bring to share! We will re-convene at a later date and plan to tie our “tzitzit” together. Improv Comedy Club for 3rd-5th Graders @ Mittleman Jewish Community Center

Learn the basics of Improv Theater! Students will learn short-form games that teach the skills of listening and responding, working together as a group to create a story on the spot, and building self-confidence. The class will be working towards a demo that showcases their favorite improv games, and shows off their new comedy chops!

The Lost Boys of Portlandia @ Smith Hall, Portland State University

Come see Lost Boys of Portlandia, a film created by Outside the Frame founder Nili Yosha, who was the subject of Oregon Jewish Life’s October 2016 cover story. This local documentary addresses housing insecurity, youth and how people view homelessness. Film screening is followed by a panel discussion with filmmakers. Portland State University, Smith Hall, 5:30-7:00pm. Free.

Tin House authors Harriet Fasenfest, Cari Luna, Jon Raymond, Robin Romm and Stewart Holbrook Literary Legacy Award recipient Carla Perry, along with Willa Schneberg, will present in the Annual Reading of Oregon Jewish Writers sponsored by the Oregon Jewish Museum and Center for Holocaust Education. This event is now in its 17th year. Cari Luna, Jon Raymond and Willa Schneberg are Oregon Book Award winners. Willa Schneberg will emcee.
