A carefully constructed curriculum includes Jewish history, life cycle events, holidays, ritual and daily practice, theology, study of Torah and contemporary Jewish America. While not a conversion class, most OBR members consider it a prerequisite for students beginning study for conversion. About the film:

Rabins, who served as artist-in-residence in the Judaic Studies Program in 2016-17, is joining us to discuss her acclaimed new film, “A Kaddish For Bernie Madoff”, which is being featured as part of the Ashland Independent Film Festival.  The film was inspired by her experience working in an artist residency on Wall Street during the 2008 financial collapse. For a year, Rabins wrote songs in a dilapidated office around the corner from the New York Stock Exchange, watching through her studio window as the global economy came crashing down around her. The film trailer can be viewed here.  Film trailer: https://vimeo.com/459483146

How to view the film:

Please view the film in advance of the April 25th “talkback” event by purchasing a ticket ($10) through the Ashland Independent Film Festival:
