Each month the MJCC and PJA communities will collect items for the monthly mitzvah. Drop off items in the blue bin in the MJCC lobby. Check the display for how you can participate and donate to these worthy causes.
This project reflects the Jewish commitment to Tikkun Olam (repairing the world), providing opportunities to give back to our community.

Wondering Jews: How to Talk so Your Health Provider Will Listen (Really!)
Thursday, February 13, 2:00pm
Is this your typical appointment? You are sitting in that little examining room waiting for your doctor. The door flies open, your distracted doctor is late (again). He or she fires off quick questions that you can or cannot answer. Then comes a diagnosis, maybe some follow-up lab work and possibly a prescription or a referral. Maybe you are asked even MORE questions, and your care provider leaves.
Are you feeling like “something was missing” from your appointment?
Many of us walk away from the doctor’s office frustrated because our questions were not completely answered and other questions that you meant to ask are remembered post-appointment.
This workshop will:
- Offer failsafe ways to make the most of your physician appointment(s);
- Help you understand the circumstances under which most physicians and health care professionals work;
- Give tips so you can be prepared for most of the question’s physicians will ask you;
- Provide ways to maximize your health care appointments so that you and your provider enjoy more meaningful and productive sessions.

Ruth is late, well she always seems to be late, but tonight the show has started and she’s rushing into the theatre just as the show as begun. Morty has been left to find parking and he too will be entering the theatre late.
Ruth can’t find her seat, she apologetically interrupts the actor on stage, and then within minutes takes over the show. Just as she gets going, Morty enters looking for his seat and find Ruth on stage. How will tonight end? Through jokes from the Borscht Belt comics such as Mel Brooks, Joan Rivers, Sophie Tucker, Mae West, Totie Fields Buddy Hackett and many others, Morty and Ruth are about to tell you all about LIFE.
