Leonard Bernstein at 100 Exhibition @ Oregon Jewish Museum and Center for Holocaust Education

Leonard Bernstein at 100 celebrates the life and work of Leonard Bernstein (1918-1990), the great Jewish American composer and conductor who dedicated his life to making classical music a vibrant part of American culture.The exhibition features photographs, personal items, papers, scores, correspondence, costumes, furniture, and audio and video recordings. A vocal booth gives visitors the chance to sing lead in West Side Story. The exhibition is the most comprehensive retrospective of Bernstein’s life and career ever staged in a museum setting.

Curated by the GRAMMY Museum at L.A. Live ® in collaboration with The New York Public Library for the Performing Arts and the Bernstein Family. Presented in cooperation with the Bernstein Family, The Leonard Bernstein Office, Inc., Brandeis University, and the Indiana University Jacobs School of Music.

Irin Carmon is a journalist, the bestselling co-auther of Notorious RBG, a New York magazine senior correspondent and on-air CNN contributor, she reports and comments on gender, politics, and the law. Carmon and her co-author were featured in the award-winning and Oscar-nominated 2018 documentary RBG.

The New York Times described Carmon as being “known for her smarts and feminist bonafides.” Of Notorious RBG: The Life and Times of Ruth Bader Ginsburg (2015) which spent three months on the Times bestseller list, the paper’s staff book critic wrote,”That I responded so personally to it is a testimony to Ms. Carmon’s storytelling and panache.” In 2017 and 2018, Carmon teamed up with the Washington Post’s investigative team to break the news of sexual harassment and assault allegations against Charlie Rose, as well as CBS’s knowledge of his conduct. That work was recognized with a 2018 Mirror Award. She was also a contributing writer to the Post’s Outlook section.

This year’s event marks the 20th Anniversary of Oregon Jewish Voices.

Started in 1999, this annual event features readings by prominent Oregon Jewish poets and writers. The writers in the 2018 program, who span a range of genres will share selections from their work in OJMCHE’s auditorium. This year’s writers are Eric Flamm, Suzy Harris, A. Molotkov, Willa Schneberg, Sabena Stark. OJMCHE Director Judy Margles is the emcee for the evening.
