Your children will celebrate the New Year through music, movement, and joyful prayer, P’nai Or is Portland’s welcoming Jewish Renewal congregation.  Rosh Hashanah Children’s Service will be downstairs, concurrent with all-age service happening upstairs at the same location during Rosh Hashanah.

Gesher’s Rosh Hashanah Day, Monday, September 10th will also be a three-part celebration.
An intimate, interactive prayer and discussion time that will make room for questions of the heart and soul – 10am
A pot-luck vegetarian lunch – 1pm
A communal walk to a tashlich service at Marshall Park – a time of story telling and stone placing on our path of spiritual alignment – 2 pm
We welcome you to attend any or all parts of the Rosh Hashanah Day experience.

Rabbi Hannah Laner is the new rabbi at P’ani Or at Portland. She has over 25 years of experience as rabbi and cantorial soloist, creating and leading services for High Holidays, Shabbat, and other holidays. She is a professional Jewish educator who infuses her teaching with a passionate love of Torah and tradition.

Yitzhak Husbands-Hankin is a composer, singer, cellist and guitarist. He served as a Hazzan and Rabbi for nearly forty years in the Jewish community of Eugene, Oregon, U.S.A. Music is at the very heart of his spiritual life and he seeks to connect with the transcendant realms of Spirit as well as the depths of the human heart through his music.

Rosh Hashanah Services at Congregation Beth Israel

CBI’s Traditional Rosh Hashanah Service begins in the Main Sanctuary at 10:00 AM;

Families with children aged thirteen or younger generally attend our Family Service, which begins at 11:00 AM in the Pollin Chapel.

In a beautiful CBI tradition, the two groups join together for the Shofar Service.

A reception follows in Blumhauer Auditorum, and, at 1:00 PM, Tashlich at at Tanner Park (NW 19th & Marshall Streets).

Havurah Shalom – Tashlich Service & Potluck @ Commonwealth Lake Park

This Tashlich celebration is in addition to, not instead of, Havurah Shalom’s Tashlich service at Willamette Park on Sept. 16.

We’ll gather at the picnic tables on the east side of SW Huntington, next to the play structure. Bring a snack or finger food to share if you’d like to but it’s not necessary.
