In June 2007, the Portland Jewish newspaper the Jewish Review ran this photo along with a story about how Marshal Spector donated one of his healthy kidneys to save the life of long-time friend David Rosenberg.
Gabrielle Glaser met Rosenberg that year and wrote an article for the Oregonian about the donation that enabled him to live seven more years. David Rosenberg, who served as cantor of Congregation Shaarie Torah for many years, died Nov. 25, 2014, from complications of thyroid cancer.
Now Glaser returns to Rosenberg’s story to share his reunion with his birth mother just weeks before his death. The moving story from the New York Times can be read online at:
