\nOn Sunday\, May 2\, just two weeks before the holiday of Shavuot when Jews around the wor ld will be celebrating the revelation of Torah\, the Havurah Synagogue wil l be hosting a workshop with Rabbi Shefa Gold\, from 10 AM – noon\, titled Opening to Revelation. In counting the days of the Omer\, the counting of the fifty days from the second night of Passover\, the holiday of liberat ion\, to Shavuot\, we are preparing ourselves to become the vessels for G- d’s Presence and messengers for the Divine Word. G-d instructs Moses to te ll us to make ourselves holy for the Day of Revelation\, to wash our garme nts and get ready! In this workshop of preparation for Shavuot\, we will u se the modalities of study\, chant and holy conversation to prepare oursel ves as channels for the Divine flow of Revelation that is available in eac h moment of radiant presence.
\nRabbi Shefa Gold is a leader in Alep h: the Alliance for Jewish Renewal and received her ordination both from t he Reconstructionist Rabbinical College and from Rabbi Zalman Schachter-Sh alomi. She is the director of C-DEEP The Center for Devotional\, Energy a nd Ecstatic Practice in Jemez Springs\, New Mexico. Shefa composes and per forms spiritual music\, has produced ten albums\, and her liturgies have b een published in several new prayer-books. She teaches workshops and retre ats on the theory and art of Chanting\, Devotional Healing\, Spiritual Com munity Building\, Meditation\, and trained Chant Leaders in Kol Zimra\, a two year program for rabbis\, cantors and lay leaders. Welcoming all chess players ages 10+
\nThe camp wil l be geared toward those just beginning their chess journeys\, and will em phasize how the history of chess intersects with Jewish identity and mi tzvot.
\nDuring the camp\, we will learn the basics of chess by analyzing the games of Jewish and non-Jewish chess players\, and placing t hese games into the context of players’ lives and histories. We will focu s in particular upon the games and contributions of women and people of co lor\, and will discuss how chess institutions continue to marginalize alon g vectors of gender and race.
\nFor safety\, we will require all students to wear masks while at camp. Seats will be spread out to main tain social distancing\, and once-a-day games between students will last a maximum of 20 minutes.

\nWalter Cole/Darcelle is celeb rating his 91st birthday on Tuesday\, November 16th.
\nAn unveiling of the permanent art installation that commemorates the placement of Darce lle XV Showplace on the National Register of Historic Places as the oldest drag cabaret in the US.
\nDarcelle XV Showplace has been recognized as the oldest drag cabaret in the US. Out of over 93\,500 places/building s on the National Register\, there are only 22 that are LGBTQ and this is the 22nd one. The only one in Oregon. For the past 54 years\, t he Darcelle XV Showplace has been a gathering place for the community in O ld Town. Walter/Darcelle has been helm and continues to perform two nights a week – two shows per night.

Ishmael Khaldi was born in Khawaled\, Israel. He received his BS in political science from Haifa University and his MS in political science and international affairs from Tel Aviv University. He served in the Israel Ministry of Defense\, the Israel Police\, and the IDF as a political analyst\, and also has worked for the Israel Foreign Mi nistry. He initiated a project–Hike and Learn with Bedouins in the Galilee –which has brought thousands of young Jews to Khawaled to learn about Bedo uin culture and history.

She\, MS in Global Fashion Management from FIT\, is a fashion lecturer\, NYC fashi on blogger\, and manages the NY- Israel Fash&Tech Meetup community. Liri h as an in-depth understanding of US Jewish community’s culture and interest s from her extensive experience as Program Director at Duke University\, w here she led the effort of bringing Israel to campus from various perspect ives. Due to her achievements at Duke\, she won AIPAC’s Alley of the Year Award and was nominated for Duke’s Star Advisor Award. Prior to working at Duke\, Liri was ZARA Israel’s Training and Development Department Manager responsible for the fashion\, leadership and educational training for 170 0 employees in over 50 stores.
